An elegant apartment in The Hague from Plan2000
Patricia Cheung from interior design studio, Plan2000, chose a palette of Paint & Paper Library shades to create a sophisticated, contemporary interior scheme. In this apartment project, she infused each space with character and design interest by embracing richly coloured hues on every surface.

Tell us about this project. Where is the property, and what was the brief?
“The apartment is 280m² and is located in the city centre of The Hague, close to the King’s Palace. The brief was simple: transform this dull space into something moody and in the style of Plan2000. The client gave me complete creative freedom over the design and furnishings – the type of project I really enjoy!
I had a style in mind that suited this project. Once I checked the paint swatches in my favourite local paint shop, I knew these colours were the perfect combination for a moody, stylish vibe.”

Kasbah features in several spaces. Why did you choose this shade, and what does it bring to each room?
“Some might perceive Kasbah as a challenging colour to use. But to me, it evokes an oriental and warm atmosphere. I was so pleased with the colour that I used it in the kitchen and dining area, as well as both the master bedroom and the girl's bedroom.”
The colour Bronze also features in your own hallway. Tell us why you love this shade and why you have used it in this project.
“Bronze is a stunning shade that I’ve used in previous projects. It creates a warm, welcoming feel – exactly what you need in an entrance or, in the case of this project, a spacious bathroom.”
You have contrasted the palette of earthy browns and pinks by introducing striking deep blue and teal shades, Kigali and Iguana. Why did you incorporate these colours?
“I used Iguana in the toilets, as it complements the stone we selected. Blue is my client’s favourite colour, so I also incorporated it on the upper floor, where his study is located, with the use of Kigali.”
Finally, what are the most important considerations for you when designing an interior?
“Designing an interior is all about feeling – it should suit both the house and, most importantly, the client. Before starting, I needed to get a sense of the owner’s personality and preferences. So, we met, and he handed me the key to his home. When I returned the key, I was quite nervous about his reaction... Fortunately, he was thrilled – and so was his daughter.”
