Paint & Paper Library has been named a winner in this year’s Homes & Gardens Design Awards. A new shade from the latest capsule collection, Atlas was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2025.

Atlas is a vibrant, contemporary red which takes its name from the Atlas Mountain range. The striking hue is inspired by shimmering vanadinite crystals which can be found in shades of burnt orange, red and brown. It is one of eight paint shades in the ‘Jewels’ collection that have been matched to a selection of rare and semi-precious minerals.

Paint & Paper Library’s Creative Director, Andy Greenall, writes:

Atlas is an earthy, rich shade of burnt orange. This impactful colour creates a cocooning and enlivening environment that feels immediately reassuring and enveloping. It works brilliantly on all four walls, imbuing a space with warmth and depth.

Consider using Atlas all over in a living room, a space where relaxation and time spent together as a family is key. In living rooms, colour can be used to create a warm and welcoming environment. Using Atlas will ensure everyone is inspired to gather together and socialise.”

The shades in the ‘Jewels’ collection have been designed to feature independently, or in partnership with the ‘Original’ and ‘Architectural Colours’ palettes. For example, Atlas pairs harmoniously with the Stone Architectural Colours, which are versatile neutrals with understated warmth.

To create an intriguing colour contrast, consider teaming Atlas with contemporary grey and teal hues such as Sharkskin, Kohl and Iguana. Or opt for a more classic combination with Caddie, Panel and Slate II.

The winners of this year’s Homes & Gardens Design Awards were invited to collect their awards at an exclusive event in Covent Garden, London. The awards were showcased in a luxurious, candlelit setting at NoMad Hotel, accompanied by seasonal greenery.
