@charlotteclarkhome has created a smart and sophisticated bedroom space that features the Marquetry Tile – Kohl wallpaper design.

Discover how Charlotte created the scheme.

Marquetry Tile - Kohl

Which Paint & Paper Library colours or wallpapers feature in your home?

“I used Paint & Paper Library paint and wallpaper in our eldest son’s bedroom. I used the Marquetry Tile – Kohl wallpaper on the chimney breast and the colour Opus on the walls and woodwork. I then used Canvas l for the coving.”

Tell us a little about this scheme…

“My favourite thing about our Marquetry Tile bedroom project is that this room was going to be completely different to any other room in the house. I was able to explore a totally different look and feel in this bedroom, which was very exciting, if a little daunting.”

Why did you choose this statement wallpaper design?

“As it was going into a boy’s bedroom and I knew that I wanted it to last him through to his teens, I really wanted something that had a masculine feel to it – something more grown up that wasn’t going to date. It needed to be classic but stylish.”

How did you pair the paint and wallpaper?

“I think the wall colour [Opus] complements the wallpaper beautifully because it is a fairly soft tone, as is the Canvas l that I chose for the coving. With the wallpaper being quite bold, I knew that to create a calmer mood, I would need a slightly softer wall colour. I think continuing the wall colour on the woodwork and down to the skirting boards really helps to create this look.”

“I’m fairly new on the wallpaper scene, so I have only just recently learnt how wallpaper can bring so much more to a space than you could ever imagine.

“My advice would be to start with a feature wall as I have done here, and a beautiful complementary wall colour. From simply doing this chimney breast, I know now that that I’d be brave enough to go for a whole room. I certainly intend to incorporate a lot more wallpaper in my interiors in the future.”

Which Paint & Paper Library colours and wallpapers will you be considering for your next project?

“There are lots of Paint & Paper Library colours and wallpapers that I would love to try. The Abbey Gardens wallpaper in Blue Blood accompanied by Blue Blood paint is something that I would love to see.”
